Bad Hats Theatre Co.

Bad Hats is a theatre company based out of Toronto. As their Designer in Residence, I have helped them build out their graphic identity through posters, merchandise, props and other visuals. Much of our collaboration has been while working on their multi-year run performing an original adaptation of Peter Pan as part of Soul Pepper Theatre’s holiday season.

 Brand Identity

As this theatre company grew from a fledgling creative project, to an established force in the Toronto theatre scene, they felt there online presence was no longer inline with the work they were doing. We decided it was time for Bad Hats Theatre to undergo a branding facelift. This meant building on the existing look but making updates to their typography, logo, and colour palette.

Play Icons

The company wanted a graphic icon to represent each original production and project they have worked on. These logos are used on their website, social media, and on merchandise. For each new image we used the line-drawing style and bold black and white of their Bad Hats logo. Over the years, this has amounted to a collection of eye-catching icons which tease at the breadth of their work.
